Kings’ star, Sim Bhullar is used to draw all the attention upon him, being 7-foot-5 tall and weighing 360 pounds. Ever since he signed his 10 days contract with the Sacramento Kings, he attracted a worldwide audience.
Being the first NBA player of Indian descent, he was always aware of the cultural significance and managed to make the most of the opportunity. Now, he faces the problems of every celebrity as he is continuously searched by fans “All the emails are blowing up on my phone. I walked into the gym and my battery was at like 95 percent and I left after my workout yesterday and it was like 5 percent. My whole phone was just buzzing for that hour-and-a-half I was in the gym.” Bhullar believes in him as being the one to expand the league’s popularity in India. After all, basketball is the second growing sport (after soccer) in India, which is known as the cricket-crazed country. NBA opened their first office in Mumbai in 2011. The country is seen by Kings owner Vivek Ranadive as “the next basketball frontier”. In spite of his size and heritage Bhullar hopes to be admired by his game and not image.
For now, he declared he’s just looking to enjoy the moment and live any NBA’s fan dream "I'm just enjoying the ride right now."
