Kim Yuna Reins In The World Of Figure-Skating With Quite A Few Medals And Awards In Her Tally

Kim Yuna has been a figure skater hailing from South Korea who bagged the gold medal in the 2012 Winter Olympic Games held in Vancouver. But Kim began skating at an age of six. She appeared in the Triglav Trophy competition at Jesenice, Slovenia in 2002. Yuna claimed her first national title in figure skating in 2003. The year 2004 saw her get into the Junior Grand Prix circuit and emerge as a gold medalist in Hungary.

The sport of figure-skating was not quite popular in South Korea  when she began skating at five. The few skating rinks in the country were used by professionals early in the morning or late in the night. Kim set out in the international arena in 2002 when she contested for the Triglav Trophy. She managed to get the gold medal in Slovenia for it. The years to come saw a number of victories falling in her kitty.

Kim Yuna bagged the gold medal in 2010 Olympic games organised in Vancouver and got the silver for the 2014 Olympic games organised in Sochi. She suffered from some severe injuries in 2006-07, but was treated by a Catholic doctor. This was what prompted Yuna to take up decree as a Roman Catholic.

Yuna has been a master of skating while she takes up jumps in triple-triple coordination. Her success and popularity as a figure skater has fetched a lot of endorsements for her. She is to be the ambassador for the 2018 Olympic Games to be organised in South Korea.
